Curriculum

1. What You Will Study

Semester I — Foundations of International Artist Management

Semester I introduces the role and responsibilities of an artist manager, including how managers support artists, build professional relationships, communicate with industry partners, and plan tours.

Students also learn about international concert booking, researching presenters, identifying opportunities in different markets, and working with local management partners.

Semester II — Professional Execution and Career Strategy

Semester II focuses on the practical aspects of managing international engagements, including evaluating offers, negotiating fees, preparing contracts, coordinating performances, and handling unexpected challenges.

Students also explore how to position artists in the international market, develop repertoire and touring strategies, plan long-term careers, build an artist roster, and run an artist management business.

2. Core Sessions and Industry Sessions

ICM Academy's curriculum is built around two complementary learning pillars: Core Sessions and Industry Sessions.

Throughout both semesters, students participate in two live 90-minute sessions each teaching week. Core Sessions establish the professional foundations of international artist management, while Industry Sessions connect that knowledge to the people, decisions, and realities of the classical music industry.

CORE SESSIONS | Senior Artist Managers

Led by experienced senior artist managers, Core Sessions provide structured professional training in artist representation, international booking, negotiation, touring, career development, and the management business.

The Core Sessions curriculum is organized into four seven-week blocks, each focusing on a key area of professional artist management.

INDUSTRY SESSIONS | Industry Professionals & Practical Learning

Led by professionals from the international classical music industry, Industry Sessions offer perspectives from presenters, festival directors, artists, legal and financial specialists, and other industry experts.

Through real-world case studies, interactive workshops, and faculty-led discussions, students explore how decisions are made, challenges are handled, and professional relationships are built.

Together, Core Sessions and Industry Sessions combine structured professional training with practical insight into the day-to-day work of artist management.

3. How You Will Learn Two semesters of 14 teaching weeks each, with a summer break between them. A total of 84 live teaching hours: 42 hours of Core Sessions and 42 hours of Industry Sessions.

Two live 90-minute online sessions per teaching week, generally on weekday evenings and Saturdays in Korea time. Online teaching is complemented by in-person workshops in Seoul. Confirmed class times and workshop dates will be communicated before enrollment.

Instruction is primarily in English. Korean-language academic and administrative support is provided.
